RIO DE JANEIRO, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's federal police Tuesday arrested four people who were suspected of hacking the cell phone of Justice Minister Sergio Moro.
The arrests occurred in three cities across Sao Paulo state, Ribeirao Preto, Araraquara and state capital Sao Paulo.
The arrests came after the leak of conversations between Moro and Deltan Dallagnol, the lead prosecutor in Brazil's Operation Car Wash, a large-scale investigation into corruption in Brazil's state-controlled oil and gas giant Petrobras.
The conversations were published on the news website The Intercept, indicating that Moro might collude with the prosecutor in the case involving former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was convicted of graft.
Lula was prevented from running in the 2018 presidential election which was later won by Jair Bolsonaro.
Moro served as the judge of the cases in Operation Car Wash before he was appointed as justice minister in President Bolsonaro's cabinet.
Moro questioned the veracity of the leaked conversations. He said his phone was hacked and the federal police started investigating. Enditem
